For the community,

by the community.

Our mission is to organize drug users as leaders in the campaign to end the Drug War, to improve the health and well-being of drug users, and to de-stigmatize drug use and drug users.

THE WORK

Access to Care

SFDUU operates a vibrant & vital syringe service program, currently operating three days a week at our Tenderloin neighborhood drop-in center. In addition to safer drug use supplies, we provide supplies for wound care and essential hygeine needs.

Our drop-in offers the comforts of bathroom access (far too rare in SF), water, home cooked meals (when available), vetted referrals for care, and a weekly on-site clinic with our partners at Street Med for all urgent care and medication needs. We open our doors for off- hours community-lead workshops, clubs, and general gathering space.

Social Justice Advocacy

There has never been a more urgent time for drug policy reform in the United States. With overdose death rates at tragic historic levels year after year, the time for change is decades past. SFDUU has remained steadfast in our long-term commitment to ending the policies and discrimination that cause harm to our diverse communities.

We promote compassionate, evidence-based strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of being of all people who use drugs. We condemn the staggering racial health & equity disparities resulting from criminalization, systematic disenfranchisement, and stigma.

Partnering for Change

San Francisco and the greater Bay Area has an incredible harm reduction community that we are proud to be a part of. SFDUU is a member SF Harm Reduction Community Advisory Board, and collaborates with SF BHS to widen the reach of harm reduction services within our city.

In addition to local coalitions, SFDUU is also a member of the statewide California Syringe Exchange Coalition (CASEP).

We do what we can with our resources to support mission-aligned programs throughout the United States.
